A few months ago, while granting an interview with a Nigerian Sun Newspaper Correspondent, former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha pointedly said that Senator Hope Uzodinma has never won an election in his life.

I have pondered over those words for quite a while, wondering what Okorocha was trying to tell us.

The former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha may be many things, but he knows a lot of things, and when he makes such statements, there is usually substance, somewhere in what he is saying.

Hope Uzodinma have been a two-term Senator, who represented Orlu zone in the Nigerian Senate. On both occasions, Uzodinma had eventually emerged winner through the Supreme Court.

Even his supposed 2019 Governorship victory, came through one of the most controversial rulings of the Nigerian Supreme Court, and this has lent some form of credence, to what Senator Rochas Okorocha said.

But since the Ogboko born politicain did not fully elaborate what he meant, his comment provided room for everybody to make his or her personal assumptions about what he meant.

Some may be of the view, that there may have been electoral manipulations, such as vote buying, result writing amongst others, while others may be of the view, that the Supreme Court may be manipulated in Uzodinma’s favour.

With such comment coming from Okorocha, one begins to wonder how free and fair, the 2023 General Elections would be as clearly, with the current situation in the state, it would be impossible for Uzodinma to even win at his own booth at Omuma, let alone the entire Imo State, where his executive decisions, have left behind a lot of mourning.

With the political battle still raging between Okorocha and Uzodinma, political pundits are of the view, that soon enough, Okorocha would reveal what he meant in that interview, and knowing it may serve as a way for the opposition to be better prepared for 2023.
